The fashion and entertainment world is mourning the death of Valentino Garavani, the iconic Italian designer and founder of the Valentino fashion house. He died at the age of 93, his team announced on January 19.

Surrounded by loved ones, Valentino passed away at his home in Rome. The news appeared in a statement shared on his personal Instagram account and by the Valentino Foundation.

“Our founder, Valentino Garavani passed away today at his Roman residence, surrounded by his loved ones,” the statement said.

Following the announcement, the fashion house confirmed that the lying in state will take place at PM23, Piazza Mignanelli 23, on January 21 and 22, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Later, the funeral service will be held on January 23 at the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri in Rome.

“This feels like the end of an era,” she added. “He will be deeply missed. Rest in peace, Vava.”

“I’m heartbroken to hear of Valentino Garavani’s passing,” Crawford wrote.
